If I have no thyroid can I get away with just taking an herbal remedy instead of synthroid meds?

I have Hypothyroidism and my thyroid was removed about 6 yrs ago. At this time I'm having a problem affording my perscription meds and was wondering if I can just take some herbal remedies instead?
